An ongoing review of LAX Restaurants

-->>> Terminal 7: United Airlines <<<--

Winner: BGrill by Boa Steakhouse

Food: Good enough. Eggs were plain and predictable, but better than it's too-greasy cousin at Rock 'n Brew down the hallway. I loved the potatoes (crispy outside, not overcooked inside).

Drink: Good. Coffee was exactly what I needed. No unsolicited sweetness, and soy milk is available.

Price: $$ It's the same at this Boa-run restaurant as it is at every other restaurant in the terminal. It's not a thrifty dive, but it's also not going to break your bank more than any other option. And that's awesome.

Atmosphere: The best in the terminal followed by Klatch (good for just coffee), Rock 'n Brew (good for beers). It was quiet enough to do some work on my laptop, spacious enough to have elbow room when I eat, and they didn't push me out the door.

Time Needed: At least an hour before your flight leaves.

-->>> Terminal 4: American Airlines <<<--

WINNER: Campanile

Food: Really good.

Drink: This cab is worth every single cent of its $9 price. A  I've been at the airport for 11 hours (comes with the territory of standby) so I moved onto wine.

Price: $$$ Few dollars more on average for each dinner entree (Chicken & Waffles ~ $17, Salads/Burgers/Sandwiches ~ $15, Basic Burger ~$12). It's tastier than other restaurants without being soaked in grease.

Atmosphere: Generally more quiet than the food court area. It's going for that French Bistro vibe with the patio lights. I'm a fan.

Time Needed: Hour to 1 1/2 hours before your flight leaves. I actually ended up missing my flight because the check was a liiittle too slow, but I'm going to own that one. (Thanks American Airlines for hustling to get me on the next flight out to Honolulu).

Runners Up: Based on snap judgements - Food coming out of the fo-food truck looked good and the curved bar area with a mirrored back wall looked legit.

This is my first time in Terminal 4 and on average I was pleased (what an obnoxious term-- the airport food pleased me), but I wasn't stoked about the terminal's options when comparing side by side. The food court area restaurants were seemed to have better options (cool bar, fo-food truck) and wasn't as nearly loud as United's Terminal 7 dark, echo-y food court, but Campanile was the only place that had any sort of tucked-away, intimate restaurant vibe... and it was still pretty open air with dividers instead of walls. This is my long way of saying, I haven't tried any of the other restaurants. They all looked better than Terminal 7 runner ups in terms of food, but this is a call-to-action for all terminals to re-assess their atmosphere and setup. #Nofluorescentlights #morewalledoffrestuarants
